Palms to Ashes

Many faithful have used palm branches from Palm Sunday to decorate their homes. Using palms as decoration in the house serves as a constant reminder of Palm Sunday. It is a beautiful way to stay connected to Holy Week throughout the year. If you are ready to part with your blessed palms, you can bring them back to the Church. The palms are burned to create ashes for use on Ash Wednesday (February 18). The burning of palms often takes place on Shrove Tuesday (February 17).

For Prayer with the Word of God

Papal Intention for January

Let us pray that praying with the Word of God be nourishment for our lives and a source of hope in our communities, helping us to build a more fraternal and missionary Church.

New Opportunities to Grow in Faith

New Year Resolutions for Catholics

The start of a new year is the perfect time to pause, reflect, and think about how we can deepen our relationship with God. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes, the smallest changes can have the biggest impact. Here are a few ideas:

  1. Pray the Rosary before Sunday Mass.

  2. Participate in First Saturdays Devotion.

  3. Spend an hour before the Blessed Sacrament on Fridays (Eucharistic Adoration).

  4. Read the Bible in a year using the Bible in a Year podcast with Fr. Mike Schmitz.

  5. Learn about a new saint each month and try to emulate their virtues.

  6. Commit to fasting one day a month for a special intention.

  7. Explore Catholic art and music: Visit museums with religious art collections or attend concerts featuring sacred music.
